In this session we will discuss to pros and cons of several of these frameworks, like Jooby, Ninja, Spark Java and Pippo. We look at which usecases suit these frameworks the best. We look at the different features, the API’s and how easy it is to get started with them and to extend their functionality. When would you choose a micro framework over the established frameworks? Which framework will you use in your next Java microservice project?
Application servers are dead. In microservices architectures, we want to run our applications with the smallest possible footprint. Following this trend, a lot of new Java frameworks aim at providing just the essential functionality, packaging fewer libraries compared to frameworks like Dropwizard or Spring Boot. Many of them also provide a nice API for building REST services.
